Our people

Well qualified and experienced, many of our senior team have worked as managers or executives in energy utilities.  They therefore offer more than high quality consultancy advice and a proven capability to deliver projects - they bring 'hands on' experience of building, managing and operating power systems and of competing in liberalised power markets.  

Our team are experienced and qualified managers, engineers and designers.  Between them they cover the complete range of energy sector services from network planning to detailed engineering design.

Azad Panwar: General Manager

Azad Panwar: General Manager

An Engineer, Designer and Manager, Azad has 16 years’ experience in both the UK and international power industry, covering a wide range of disciplines.  Azad previously managed the Brush Transformer Technical & Commercial department, where he was responsible for detailed engineering, tendering/proposals and project management of Brush Transformer’s business in the UK.  Azad has extensive experience in high voltage transformer design up to 765kV, and was responsible for establishing 132kV transformer engineering for Brush.  Azad is also highly experienced in short circuit proof transformer design, fault diagnosis and life assessment.

Alan Jones: Head of Connections

Alan Jones: Head of Connections

Alan is a highly experienced and qualified energy sector director and manager with over 40 years in the industry.  His current role is managing a programme of connection projects and aerial overhead line surveys.  Alan has a proven track record of building, developing and improving all aspects of business performance and project management.  He is trained and experienced in the management of quality, safety, finance, Six Sigma, project management and operations.

Viren Sharma: Principal Electrical Engineer

Viren Sharma: Technical Director

With over 20 years’ experience within the electricity power industry, Viren specialises in power system studies and has been involved in planning, design, tender engineering, project supervision and pre-commissioning and testing of transmission and distribution substations.  In addition he has been responsible for the strategic development of a number of transmission and distribution systems in India, Bhutan, Sudan, Zimbabwe and Zambia.  This work required his involvement in the high level negotiations between the major stakeholders of the electricity industry in the aforementioned countries, and ensuring that the companies with which he was involved reached their performance targets.

Iain Ogden: Principal Protection Engineer

Iain Ogden: Design Manager

Iain is an electrical protection engineer with over 20 years’ experience within the electrical power industry.  He has worked on major projects with various transmission and distribution network operators including Northern Powergrid, Scottish Power, National Grid, Iberdrola, Scottish and Southern Electricity and Western Power Distribution, at all voltage levels from 11kV to 400kV.  Iain currently manages the northern division of our Protection and Control team.

Matt Pryor: Principal Overhead Lines Engineer

Matt Pryor: Principal Overhead Lines Engineer

Matt is an engineer with extensive design and construction experience in both overhead transmission lines and cables, and has been involved in the electricity supply industry for over 20 years.  Matt has previously worked in Australia and New Zealand on HV and EHV overhead line construction projects, responsible for all aspects of design and site interfacing.  Since joining BPI Matt has been responsible for leading a design team to deliver 1000 km of 11 and 33kV overhead line replacement schemes in Scotland and Wales.
